Ashley's highlights of the week!

I have had so much fun this  week i probably cant say everything but i will say some of the stuff that i liked this week.  So on Monday we went to the cheesecake factory and then went to Kung Fu Panda 2! that night was really fun! on Tuesday we went to the Iowa cubs minor league game and we got to sing take me out to the ball game it was so much fun! on Wednesday we went to adventure land it is an amusement park! my favorite ride would be the falling star or  the raging rivers! so the raging rivers is a ride where you get soaking wet  and you go on a raft. So me molly, Issac and McKenzie went on it two times and got soaking wet and then the ride closed and we came out and it was down pouring! Thursday we went to a water ski show! It was amazing! So today... Friday is are last day and we are all so sad to leave but we are happy that we got to help people in need of it! We all had a great time and we loved it!

Day 4!!!!!

On Thursday, we helped out in the garden at  the retreat center by moving flowers and pulling weeds. Even though it sounds boring, it was a lot of fun! Then we went on a long drive to the Old Country Buffet. I think that everyone ate more then they actually could! Mark went to the dessert table four different times, and he also started his meal with dessert! After the Bufffet, we got to go hang out in the mall for about 45 minutes. After the mall, we went to Comfort Inn to check in and settle in our rooms. Mark even took some of us Geocaching. We got to hang out in our hotel rooms for about an hour and a half and then it was time to go to dinner. We went to Tomaso's Pizza (the best pizza in town) and we got in groups of three to four and those groups shared a pizza. Then we went to a water skiing show and I thought that it was AMAZING! But maybe that is just because I know that I could never do that...(ever). :) After the show, it was time to go back to our hotel for worship and omega. Thursday was also the day when everyone got kind-of obsessed with making bracelets. Thursday was a very fun day and I would replay it again and again if I could!

cemetery and baseball!

well good morning! Yesterday we had a blast! we split into two groups and one went to the cemetery and one went to the Catholic Worker House. At the cemetery we pulled weeds and help record head stones. It was pretty scary just knowing that you were stepping on someone! it was pretty interesting though. It was pretty fun getting muddy at both places because we both had to pick weeds. at the cemetery we got to ride in the truck they called the ghetto truck and that was pretty funny. We sat in there for a while until the bus came. After the catholic worker house and the cemetery we went to the nursing home. We also split into groups and some played Wii, some played bingo, and some did cross word puzzles. We had cookies and a drink. We all had a good time talking with the elderly and just being able to have fun with friends.

We had an amazing time today! We started it off by visiting a catholic worker house, which provides healthy food, showers, and a home for many people in the community that may need a temporary place to live. We helped them by weeding their garden area where they grow delicious and organic food. It was an enjoyable experience that taught us about hard work and we had  some laughs along the way. At the end of the day, we went to an Iowa Cubs baseball game, which is the minor league team for the Chicago Cubs. It was a cool stadium with very good seats. Kenzie, Isaac, Emily, and I got picked to participate in a three-leg race during the beginning of the game. It was a great opportunity and was really fun. Later, all of the kids got to sing at the seventh-inning stretch and definitely had a good time--even through on-and-off rain. It's definitely a time I'll never forget.

Hi everyone-
Lindsey here again.... things are going great!  The Luther Crest staff is phenomenal!  We volunteered and two different Goodwill Stores yesterday and accomplished a lot!  Also, the kids came home with a lot of 2nd hand goodies :o)  Then we went to a beautiful park for Bible Study, had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and saw  Kung Fu Panda 2!  We did have a thunderstorm last night, but we were safe and sound!

Anyway, time for breakfast!   Hope everyone is doing well!!

We made it!

Hey everyone-
Just a quick note to let you know we arrived safe and sound at our destination.... Des Moines Iowa!  Technically we are staying in Newton- about a half hour outside of Des Moines.  Our accommodations are NICE!  its a camp and we are in the retreat center and the rooms are just like hotel rooms- complete with Dish TV.  I sure hope the kids get some sleep :o)
On the way down, we stopped in Clear Lake, IA and went through the Fort Custer Maze- was a lot of fun!  We also did some group building activities at a park, and had dinner at a drive inn.  Currently, the kids are having worship but I slipped out to let you know we got here safely!

Hopefully we'll have more time tomorrow and be able to get some pics on here!!
